Golden Orioles are shy birds who are often hard to spot in the dense foliage in the high canopy. Both of the birds in the photos above and below are either females or immature males. Adult males are a bright lemon colour with black wings and lores (the area of feathers between the bill and the eye).
They are summer visitors to most of continental Europe (except Scandinavia) and western Asia. In Britain they are rare and restricted mainly to commercial poplar plantations in East Anglia.
